SWEET LIBATIONS
Alcohol has served throughout history as the basis of most love potions, masking foul tastes of bizarre ingredients. Today, fortunately, we typically rely on alcohol, not for it's hocus pocus concoctions of wormwood as such (although I will be covering this one), but for it's innate aphrodisiacal powers alone. After a mere drink or two, it lowers inhibitions and allows people to do what they only fantasized as a possibility just a couple of hours previously. Whether sipping margaritas on the beach, or a fine drop of Chardonnay, or shooting body shots, alcohol pushes aside the doubts, fears, and mores that typically restrain people from amorous pursuits.
Oh glorious alcohol. It transforms the could've beens into reality. Well at least for one night.
Oh my gosh...do I have to put this obvious disclaimer in...well I will. Of course drinking too much alcohol will have the opposite effect, and will hamper any love making attempts. And I do not wish to glorify alcohol. We are all responsible adults here.
ABSINTHE
absinthe makes the heart grow fonder
Are you ready to fly with the green fairy??
Absinthe is an alcoholic drink made with an extract from wormwood (Artemisia absinthium). It is an emerald green drink which is very bitter (due to the presence of absinthin) and is therefore traditionally poured over a perforated spoonful of sugar into a glass of water. The drink then turns into an opaque white as the essential oils precipitate out of the alcoholic solution (louche).
Absinthe was once popular among artists and writers and was drunk by Van Gogh, Baudelaire, and Verlaine, to name a few. They must have believed it stimulated creativity, like LSD. It was and still is considered an aphrodisiac with narcotic properties.

Absinthe has a long reputation as an aphrodisiac. Perhaps because of the thujone content in wormwood which has an effect on the mind and heightens the sensation of colour, sound and....touch :-) Also the Green Fairy (the metaphor for the absinthe effect) is often portrayed in art and literature as a beautiful temptress.
Ingredients
2 oz Absinthe
2 tsp Sugar
Absinthe Drip Directions
Add absinthe and one large cube of ice to an old-fashioned glass. Place an absinthe spoon across the top of the glass with the sugar on it, and pour drops of water onto the spoon. The water will drop through the holes in the absinthe spoon.

DAMIANA LIQUEUR
Damiana is covered in two categories.
Herbs and drinks. I won't repeat any information here.
I will, however, add this excerpt from a link I found...WOAH!!!
“This brings me to my very own aphrodisiac of Aphrodite, Sylvana's Damiana Liqueur, affectionately known as Love Potion #13. I created this recipe and have developed it over a number of years, experimenting with it as I went... research, hee hee hee! All in the name of research!
“It works well as a love potion, so beware. Do not use it lightly! A now ex lover of mine, after ingesting only about 1½ ounces of the liqueur, described the feeling as
"being pulled across the room by my now rock-hard penis, almost against my will, but no one was touching me."
I was what he was pulled toward on the other side of the room - and after that, a good time was had by all!
I advise that people use this liqueur with lovers that they are already close to for best results. Or, use it to draw closer to a lover with whom the fire has dimmed but not gone out. You never want to use Love Potion #13 on an unsuspecting victim, or one who is not already in a romantic or sexual relationship with you. This magick has a way of coming back and kicking your ass when you use it in an unethical way, so be careful what you ask for! Use good judgment, please. “

3 oz 100% agave tequila
4 Key limes, freshly squeezed
1/2 oz or 2 bar spoons sugar, to taste
Lime wheel, for garnish
Rub the rim of the glass with a lime wedge and dip the glass into salt.
Place the liqueur, tequila, fresh lime juice and optional sugar in your cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for a slow ten count. Strain over ice. Garnish with lime wheel.
I am going to drop a MAJOR hint here. I am unable to get Damiana liqueur in Australia. I e-mailed the American distributor to ask where I could get it, and although they are working with a supplier to bring it Down Under...it won't be for quite a while yet. So if anyone has plans to travel to the States, or come for a holiday to OZ...maybe you could stash a bottle in your luggage.
AGAVERO
Whilst out a few weeks ago, I was sitting at the Marble Bar in Sydney...a well known establishment and watering hole for those after office hour drinkies. It's usually a starting point to meet up, have a cocktail, and then move on into the night.
Whilst waiting for my drink to arrive, I was gazing around, and I started to check out the well stocked bar. I saw all the standards there. Your Scotches, Rums, Gins, Vodkas (and yes Grey Goose). I also noticed some things I hadn't seen before, one of which was a bulbous green bottle of Agavero tequila. I am a tequila drinker...(but not too early on in the night), so it caught my attention. I remembered what the bottle looked like, and came home to do a bit of research. What I found out is that it is a tequila liqueur, highly sweetened, and with a secret ingredient...DAMIANA infusion. And they sell it in Australia. Needles to say, I will have to track one down. It's selling point is it's ultra smooth taste (not like a regular shot of T), and that it goes down very easily. And of course the Damiana is a bonus.
