THE PRINCIPLES OF LUST - AN INTRODUCTION

THE PRINCIPLES OF LUST –
INTRODUCTION

Aphrodite

I'm starting a new blog series. I'm sure the heading is what got your attention here. And that's exactly what it was meant to do...(smiles)

the art of seduction ,and the principles of lust, is a topic that generates a lot of curiosity, and debate.
And I'm sure there are some Master Debaters amongst you.

I have had an interest, for many many years now, about the use of

APRRODESIACS.

And let me tell you...I'm not the only one.
Although, I have a personal repertoire of knowledge, based on things I had read in books, and yes, experienced over the years, I had never actively researched the topic. And especially not online. I began my research a few of days ago. I already had an idea what I was looking for, but I found way more than I bargained for.

Obviously, this is a topic of much interest, and intrigue, and there are a lot of people out there with sex on their minds...and getting their groove on

Photobucket

seduction

The second thing that was re-iterated to me, is that there is a very divided school of thought regarding the validity of aphrodisiacs, and whether they even work. I had to point this out, first and foremost, because I want to make this very clear.
This is a fun, and informative blog. It is based on folklore....thousands of years worth actually. It is based on popular theory. Some things I found, turned out to live up to their promise. Others, the jury is out on. And other things still, turned out to be highly dangerous. Not to mention, that many of the traditional Eastern practices rely on the use of endangered species of animals...like Rhino horn and Musk deer.

It's very important that we put these long held practices into some sort of perspective. A lot of the traditional uses of animals, (and plants for that matter) were based on a system called the “doctrine of signatures”. Put very simply, this means, if a plant resembled a body part, it must surely be good for it's functioning.
Also, using the gonads or horns of an animal are said to help the same organs in us. Sometimes it was the virility, or power of an animal that the partakers were after. They believed it's essence would be transferred to them by consuming.
And I understand this.
I'm just not prepared to ignore the fact that many animals have suffered, become endangered, live miserable lives, paid the price for our needs and urges to get it on, or up.

Science has come a long way in helping to demystify some of these beliefs. Some thing have proven not to be effective, and would in fact be the equivalent of making a concoction with ground up toenails.
Other things, have actually been proven correct.
Compounds found in certain fruits, vegetables or herbs, have indeed been shown to assist, in their efficiency and success as a sexual stimulant.

My personal thought here.

The brain, and our wonderful imaginations, in my opinion, are the very best aphrodisiac. Some people, indeed, do not need any assistance whatsoever.

(The bastards...LOL)

So what is the role of aphrodisiacs, you may ask.

Let me tell you what it is NOT first.
It is not a way to trick or coerce a companion into doing things that they may be uncomfortable with. There is an ethical boundary here that must be adhered to. Some people think it's cool to put a little something something into an unsuspecting, or unwilling participants drink, and to take advantage of their vulnerable state.

It's not cool.

I do not advocate this.

This is all about consenting, and informed couples having fun, experimenting and doing what comes naturally.
It's about assisting the inevitable. It's about feeling free to do things, together when the mood takes you. It's about trust.
It's about enhancing your best qualities,
and for some, it's about giving them that edge that they may otherwise feel they are lacking.
It's about taking what you already have to a heightened level.
It's about having the most fun possible with a pot of honey or a banana.
Photobucket

I personally believe that there are times, some of us, need a little inspiration. We may be nervous. We already know that we want to get it on with the person of our desires, but our inhibitions are taking control.
There are also times, where throughout the natural cycles of a relation ship, things begin to slow down.
Work pressures, kids, hormone imbalances can cause this.

So quite simply, we may need a little help.

Photobucket

Eros and Phyche

I am going to make this as simple as possible. And as accessible. In fact, you probably have a lot of these things in your refrigerator or kitchen pantry as we speak, and could already, unknowingly be tempting your other half without even realizing it...lol

I also want to break this up into categories.
Cover different categories.

Smells,
foods
Herbs
drinks

Most of the things I will present are easy enough to obtain, and all legal...well most of them anyway.

Photobucket

I think I've covered everything that I needed to here.

There is nothing more pleasurable in life, than being with the one you love, or the person of your desire, and sharing intimate time, with sexy foods, exotic beverages, sensous smells wafting through the room. Not to forget some background sounds. A summer breeze floating though the window, and a hint of moonlight shining through.

THE PRINCIPLES OF LUST - PART 1 - SCENTUALS

ENCHANT THE SENSES

So what smells or scents make a person go wild, whilst having very little effect on another. I don't know, and it seems that it's not fully clear. Lots of different theories and a lot of them backed up by science and physiology.

The aroma enters our nose and comes in contact with the cilia, the fine hair inside the nose lining. The receptors in the cilia are linked to the olfactory bulb which is at the end of the smell tract. The end of the tract is in turn connected to the brain itself Smells are converted by cilia into electrical impulses that are transmitted to the brain through olfactory system. All the impulses reach the limbic system. Limbic system is that part of the brain which is associated with our moods, emotions, memory and learning. All the smell that reaches the limbic system has a direct chemical effect on our moods.”

  • Dr. Alan Huch, a neurologist, psychiatrist

Our memories seem to play an important part in this. Our memories often attach smells, sounds and feelings to certain physical triggers.
This is a fact.
There is so much research on the topic of “scents as aphrodisiacs”, and while the jury is hung on whether some are true or not, I would like to share with you some of my personal favorites.
I have studied this topic for over 15 years now.
I do my own research.

All of these are the pure essential oils. (http://www.aromaweb.com/articles/whatare.asp)

Having a bunch of flowers in the room will obviously have the exact same effect.
Most of these oils are expensive to manufacture, and unfortunately can cost a small fortune in their unadulterated, undiluted state... Up to $20,000 for a litre of pure oil.
I kid you not.
Imitations will not work.

TUBEROSE

Photobucket

Tuberose is without question the most powerful of natural essential oil aphrodisiacs. The aroma of Tuberose Essential Oil targets the brain to release stress, increase intimacy, create a warm and revitalized feeling and boosts blood circulation as well.
The fragrance of Tuberose is voluptuously sensual, warm, seductive and hypnotic.
It is an "niche" perfume meant for a woman without inhibitions ready to use any mean to seduce. For that reason it will be loved by women who need to overcome a psychological block that stops them from showing their natural sensuality. In fact this fragrance has a narcotic effect that remove mental constructs and the taboos that forbid one to abandon themselves to physical passion.
The narcotizing power of tuberose is used in psycho-aromatherapy to help in solving emotional conflicts, hyper emotiveness, irritability, stress
The extravert, overbearing and sensual aroma of Tuberose introduce spontaneity and an extroverted attitude in the life of whomever needs it.

Rose Otto
Rose otto has the highest frequency (320 Hertz) of all the essential oils on the planet. This in itself is an important factor. It means that the fragrant molecules of the rose oil are able to quickly penetrate and travel the infinitesimal pathways of the body, rapidly energising every cell, bringing balance and harmony to the body. For this reason rose oil may help with chronic sexual disabilities like frigidity, impotence and sluggish libido.
It is stimulating and elevating to the mind, creating a sense of well being.

Photobucket

Rose essential oil has been dedicated to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty, and her Roman equivalent, Venus. Because the scent of rose is so sensual, the Romans scattered rose petals on the bridal beds for the wedding night...

"Rose Otto is recommended for women who find it difficult to reach orgasm and whose low sex drive or libido is linked with lack of self-confidence or with menstrual problems. It is also beneficial for men suffering from erectile dysfunction."

(Source Dr. Sarah Brewer, author of "Intimate Relations – Living and Loving in Later Life" Age Concern Books).

Jasmine.

Photobucket

The queen of the night in India. This wonderful fragrance has proven to have sensual effects in humans. The Fragrance and Flavor Association (based in New Jersey, USA) has found that it stimulates our senses without any negative side effects. This very expensive and rare essential oil has been used as an aphrodisiac for hundreds of years in India. Women in India use it in their hair at night so that their husbands will be drawn to them to make love. When elephants need some help to reproduce, it is said that the owners put jasmine oil on them to excite them. The fragrance alone, when it comes from good quality pure oils, is exquisite. Altered or artificial versions do not have the same aroma and effect.

FOR MEN

Honest to goodness truth, there is nothing more sexy than the natural musky smell of a man who is in lust. No cover ups. Our pheromones are our best signals, and aphrodisiac, but they are not always obvious. Nature has a way of letting us know if the person you are interested in is giving back the signals we want. It's all in the nose.

There are definitely some smells that men are attracted to more than others....the more “masculine” scents.

Some examples of these are...

sandalwood, patchouli, cinnamon, vanilla, cedarwood, basil

Most of these oils are quite heavy base notes, and therefore should be used sparingly in subtle places. I say sparingly, because too much will have the opposite effect. Your Man will think you are trying to dope him into submission.

The name of the game is to enhance your own natural sex smell, but at the same time, cover up any perceived “weaknesses”.

Because the nose knows.

Musk is another smell...real musk. It is said to resemble the smell of testosterone.
As much as I like the smell, I don't advocate it's use, since it is obtained by killing the endangered musk deer.

There are many excellent synthetic versions around. Use your nose, to sniff out a good alternative

NOW FOR THE NITTY GRITTY

What are the best ways to use essential oils, these natural aphrodisiac perfumes???

A few fun ways.

Because pure essential oils are so concentrated, they must be diluted before putting on the skin.

A very quick lesson in this:

Dilute at 5% in any oil base.
Sweet Almond oil, Apricot kernal Oil, Or Olive oil...seriously...whatever you have in your kitchen cupboard will do.

Photobucket

For a massage, what I do is get a small dish...like an eggcup size. For 1 massage you'll need about 2 – 4 Tablespoons of your base oil. Add to that a total of 20 - 30 drops...either singly or in a skilfully blended combination.
That is my speciality. Making blends. I'm very good at it. I can make anything you need.
If you have a persistent sports injury, I know what to use...not very sexy though, unless you like the smell of deep heat.
For stress, I know how to sooth and calm your anxiety away.
For fun in the bedroom...Go no further than Divinia's magic potions...please leave all questions til the end...LOL
(recipies by personal request).

Candles really add to the mood.

Photobucket
.

The other excellent way to use essential oils, is in a bath.

Totally wicked.

For a full bath, no more than 20 drops is necessary. Bubbles are fun, and of course the missing ingredient is the person of your desire.

Photobucket

Just don't forget to disperse the oils well.
(remember, oil and water don't mix)

A spa or jacuzzi is great for this.

If you don't have the luxury of a spa bath, then a bit of vigorous agitation will do the job nicely...LOL

Just don't slip.

I will leave you with some pictures of natures other exotic fragrances...both alluring and sexy

THE PRINCIPLES OF LUST - PART 2 - NATURE

GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES

It seems that these days we are absolutely obsessed with bigger and better everything. Don't get me wrong, it's not always a bad thing.
And whilst doing my research, I was absolutely amazed at just how much STUFF is for sale. Things to:
make it bigger,
make it last longer and
go on for hours on end.
In fact, I had to close down my primary e-mail account a couple of months ago, because my in-box was being inundated with everything from...
the best viagra,
penis enlargement apparatus,
the best sex pharmacy,
bigger boobs,
better orgasms.
I'm really serious.
...At least 5 hits a day. Talk about spam-a-rama!

I have here, some wicked, but well known little secrets from mother nature herself.
Herbs, and plants that can be dried, crushed or grated, and packaged into little pills or, infused in water, or alcahol for safe and easy consumption.

All of them legal.

What is NOT legal however, is to slip anything into an unsuspecting, or unwilling participants drink...(I can feel my blood boiling as I write this, when I think of stories I've heard...NOT COOL.) I will hunt anyone down if I find out they are misusing any information to gain an unfair, and illegal advantage over anybody

Little surprises of lust that will give you

MORE BOUNCE TO THE OUNCE

With the exception of the first one, all are easily obtainable from a good health food store, or any online delivery service.

The Erotic Palm, from Cusco, In Peru.

the erotic palm tree

I know, it's a long way to travel, and I can not for the life of me find information about this well hung tree, that the locals swear by. The indigenous people of the rainforest cut the downward growing roots off, and boil them. Allegedly, men with erection and libido problems drink the 'tea.'

I can't find it's name. Nothing. Just...”The Erotic Palm Tree” Obviously, a well kept secret.
Until now maybe.

The roots of the "erotic palm" are said to work better than Viagra.
nothing like a stiff brew to cure your ails.

(ok...2 weeks later I finally found something...It is known as Huacra Pona)
Iriartea ventricosa

Iriartea deltoidea

DAMIANA

Turnera diffusa

The Curious Sexual Effects of Damiana Tea

Photobucket

Damiana is a plant that grows in Mexico, Central America, West Indies and South America and has been traditionally known and used as an Aphrodisiac. It was made into a sweet drink by Mexican Indians and drank to enhance love making.

CONSTITUENTS OF DAMIANA

Photobucket

The main constituents of damiana include: Albuminoids, alpha-copaene, alpha-pinene, arbutin, barterin, beta-pinene, beta-sitosterol, calamenene, caoutchouc, chlorophyll, 1,8-cineole, cymene, cymol, damianin, essential oil, gamma-cadinene, gonzalitosin-i, hexacosanol-1, luteolin, quinovopyranosides, tannins, tetraphyllin b, thymol, triacontane, and trimethoxyflavones.

Damiana Love Potion:
Boil 2 heaped tablespoons of the herb in two cups of water for five minutes, sweeten with honey and drink each evening for two weeks.

Damiana Liquor Love Potion:
Soak 25 grams of dried Damiana leaves in 500mls of Tequila (or Vodka) for 5 days. Pour off the liquids, strain and filter through a conical filter paper. Soak the remaining alcohol drenched leaves in 500mls of distilled or spring water for another 5 days. Pour off the liquids, strain and filter as before. Warm the water extracts to about 160ºF and dissolve in this half to one cup of honey. Then combine the alcoholic and aqueous extractions. It tastes exquisite and is most effective.

I have made Damiana brew in my time. I just don't think I was persistent enough with my efforts, and the taste can be somewhat strange to the unaccustomed palate...honey is the best sweetener. Oh, and you can roll this stuff up and smoke it if you are so inclined... It has a smell, very reminiscent of cannabis sativa, and can have mild euphoric effects. I can buy it fairly easily in Australia.

This is an entertaining read...some cold hard facts, plus a forum where people discuss smoking damiana...LOL

Horny Goat Weed

Epimedium sagittatum

Photobucket

What's In a Name

Horny goat weed, or epimedium, has been used by the Chinese for centuries as an aphrodisiac. It was given its name when a goat herder noticed his goats going on a sexual rampage after eating certain weeds. It is only natural this enhancer of libido be named after those who discovered it: a herd of goats.
    The Enhancement Process
Horny goat weed resembles testosterone in that it stimulates sexual desire and function. It inhibits the enzyme AChe, known for preventing the neurotransmitters responsible for sexual arousal from doing their job. Once the sexual neurotansmitters are allowed to continually reproduce in the brain, sexual desire is significantly increased and sensory nerves are stimulated.

NUTMEG

Myristica fragrans.

Photobucket

Nutmeg has been considered to be a useful medicine in a number of Asian societies. Among the Arabs it has been used to treat digestive problems and also been valued as an aphrodisiac
Nicholas Culpeper (1616-54), the famous English herbalist, attributes to nutmeg the capacity to induce sleep delirium. William Salmon, on the other hand, said that the oil of mace or nutmegs, if rubbed on the genitals, excited sexual passion (thereby echoing the Arabs' use of its aphrodisiac qualities).
Nutmeg's intoxicating properties have long been known in Europe but it never seems to have been a culturally significant psychoactive substance.
it has been a substitute for other substances that for one reason or another were unavailable or unaffordable. Thus prisoners, soldiers, seamen and struggling musicians were among its users. A jazz musician who played regularly with the legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker (known as 'Bird') recalled that: 'Bird introduced this nutmeg to the guys. It was a cheap and legal high. You can take it in milk or Coca-Cola.

In 1946, before his conversion to Islam, Malcolm X used nutmeg whilst in jail when his supplies of marijuana ran out. In his autobiography he wrote:
'I first got high in Charlestown [prison] on nutmeg. My cellmate was among at least a hundred nutmeg men who, for money or cigarettes, bought from kitchen worker inmates penny matchboxes full of stolen nutmeg. I grabbed a box as though it were a pound of heavy drugs. Stirred into a glass of cold water, a penny matchbox full of nutmeg had the kick of three or four reefers.'

When the authorities became aware of such uses of nutmeg it was removed from many prison kitchens.
nutmeg has been demoted to a 'pseudo-hallucinogen' by many authorities.

Photobucket

Wow...I BET YOU'LL ALL BE LINING UP TO TASTE GRANNYS EGGNOG THIS CHRISTMAS...

Photobucket

Warning...ingesting too much Nutmeg will cause very uncomfortable symptoms such as nausea and stomach cramping.

GINSENG

Ginseng refers to species within Panax,

Photobucket

The English word ginseng derives from the Chinese term rénshēn (simplified: 人参; traditional: 人蔘), literally "man root" (referring to the root's characteristic forked shape, resembling the legs of a man).

Ginseng has captivated Asian medicine for more than 5,000 years. It was even prized more than gold during the Qing dynasty of ancient China.

Authentic ginseng, that which comes from the species Panax, is commonly used as a healing agent to treat fatigue, reduce stress, fight infection and cure impotence.

As a potent aphrodisiac ginseng was mentioned in the ancient medical book of India, The Atherva Veda which states: “seed that is poured into the female that forsooth is the way to bring forth a son .... the strength of the horse, the mule, the goat and the ram, moreover, the strength of the bull (ginseng) bestows on him ..... This herb will make thee so full of lusty strength that thou shalt, when thou art excited, exhale heat as a thing on fire.”

I will cover the very misunderstood SPANISH FLY HERE. If only to clear up myths and misconceptions, and to highlight the danger of this little critter.

Spanish fly,

or cantharides

Photobucket

Spanish fly doesn't actually come from a fly. It is made from the cantharides beetle, also called the blister beetle. The name comes from an intense irritant they generate as a defense mechanism. The beetles are collected, killed, dried and powdered, and the result is called Spanish fly.
Cantharides, being a natural inflammatory agent, can burn the mouth and throat and cause abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and kidney damage even in small doses. It also strongly irritates the genito-urinary tract, and sex is one way to calm that itch. The stories regarding medical application of cantharides would be listed as "not to be believed," except that they are true. In 1752 a Frenchman was prescribed 2 drams of cantharides for a fever and in the next two months bedded his wife at least 87 times. Another man with a similar prescription "knew his wife", as the Bible puts it, 40 times in one night.
As little as one thousandth of an ounce of the active chemical in cantharides is sufficient to cause kidney failure and death, making it one of the most dangerous substances ever to be associated with sexuality. It is classified medically as a Class One poison and a blistering agent. Fortunately, it is also illegal nearly worldwide.

So NO NO NO to Spanish Fly

SOME OTHER TITILATING READING...

It's a lot of reading I know. You can always just refer back to this if needed.

What I am more interested in, is if anyone is brave enough to spill their beans, and tell us their secrets, or to let us know about any other herbal remedies.

I know that there are plenty more out there.

I purposely left quite few out.
This is
all in the name of research, of course, and freedom of information.

I'm always willing to learn new things.
